I use oil paint for my portraits, starting with a relatively flat initial layer. As I add more layers, the richness and tone of the painting emerge, often building up to 10 layers or more. I dilute the paint with Michael Harding's medium, carefully focusing on how light interacts with the skin tones in each layer.
